Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.

Pheasant Country Chapter 872 is an organization of Pheasant enthusiasts, landowners and business people from the United States and Canada who want to increase the Mitchell area pheasant population.

It is our goal to introduce and maintain programs that improve pheasant habitat. It is proven that habitat development will increase pheasant populations.

Our programs include incentives for landowners to establish and set aside food plots, establish groves of trees to reduce winter losses, & sponsor programs for youth hunters.

2013-2014 National PF Banquet Membership Award

Our Chapter was very proud when our President Dave Allen accepted a top accomplishment awardfor the largest membership Chapter is the USA and Canada of 711 members. Our Chapter sent Dave to the National Pheasant Fest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this past February to accept the 2013-2014 Banquet Membership Award. In the photograph is PF National officer, Dave Nomsen presenting this award to Dave. Thanks to all of our Chapter members who made this happen.

Join us for our 2015 Pheasants Forever Habitat Education Event

Sunday February 8th, 2015

Doors open at 3:30pm at the Moose Lodge in Mitchell. The habitat education event includes a roast beef and chicken buffet, many door prizes donated by area businesses, raffles, silent auction items, and a chance to win the national PF 2015 Ford pickup.

Learn about wildlife habitat programs, incentives by guest presenters and PF wildlife biologists.

Cost is a $35.00 membership or $50.00 for a membership and eligibility for the PF Seed give-a-way on Saturday April 4th, 2015.

Dave Allen Nominated for 2014 Person of the Year

In addition to his full time career as owner of Tobin's Transfer, Dave has pursued a busy second career as a community volunteer and the ring leader of the Pheasant Country Pheasants Forever chapter. The chapter raises funds for pheasant habitat, hunting and youth programs in the Mitchell area and is the largest Pheasants Forever membership chapter in all of the United States and Canada, with over 700 members. Mark Peters Memorial Scholarship

January 30 deadline nears

The Mark Peters Memorial Scholarship is now available to any student of any age who lives in the Mitchell trade area and holds a 2.5 or better GPA from a post-secondary institution.

Applications for the $500 scholarship must include a 250-word narrative answering, "What Does Pheasant Habitat Mean to Me?" and "How Can I Benefit from This Habitat?"

Applicants must also include a copy of their post-secondary transcript with current mailing address, phone number and email address.

The scholarship is administered by the Mitchell Pheasant Country Chapter of Pheasants Forever and the winner will be determined by a committee from the group. The monies will be remitted to the winner's current educational institution.

Applications may be sent to John Bennett, 1108 W Seventh Ave. Mitchell, S.D., 57301 by January 30th. The scholarship will be presented to this year's winner at the 2015 Pheasant Country Chapter of Pheasants Forever landowners' banquet on Sunday February 8th, 2015.

Hunt Safe Courses

Jen Johnston, Mike Blaalid and John Bennett have been taking turns attending the Mitchell Hunt Safe Courses to welcome the students and tell them about Pheasants Forever. Dave Allen reported that 32 youth memberships have been given away.
