Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.

Pheasant Country Chapter 872 is an organization of Pheasant enthusiasts, landowners and business people from the United States and Canada who want to increase the Mitchell area pheasant population.

what we do

It is our goal to introduce and maintain programs that improve pheasant habitat. It is proven that habitat development will increase pheasant populations.

Our programs include incentives for landowners to establish and set aside food plots, establish groves of trees to reduce winter losses, & sponsor programs for youth hunters.

Pheasant Country wins big at State Convention

Pheasant Country Chapter #872 was awarded the youth achievement award by Mike Stephenson, South Dakota Pheasants Forever Regional Representative, on Saturday January 23rd at the South Dakota State Pheasants Forever banquet held in Mitchell. Chapter members present were (from left to right) Mike Blaalid, Brad Zimmerman, Jen Johnston, Dave Allen, John Bennett and Howard Vincent, President and CEO of Pheasants Forever.

Our Chapter was very proud when our President Dave Allen accepted a top accomplishment awardfor the largest membership Chapter is the USA and Canada of 711 members. Our Chapter sent Dave to the National Pheasant Fest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this past February to accept the 2013-2014 Banquet Membership Award. In the photograph is PF National officer, Dave Nomsen presenting this award to Dave. Thanks to all of our Chapter members who made this happen.

Pheasants Forever Chapter Flying High

Local group wins awards after spectacular 2014

The Pheasant Country Pheasants Forever chapter of Mitchell is flying high going into their 30th year, after their hard work achieved spectacular results in 2014. The chapter earned two significant awards in January; the 2014 Mitchell Convention and Visitors Bureau Tourism Excellence Award and Chapter President, Dave Allen, received the 'Workaholic" award during the Pheasants Forever State Convention in Brookings, SD. This annual award is given to one individual for their untold hours, countless tasks and unselfish volunteer efforts.

Dave Allen Nominated for 2014 Person of the Year

In addition to his full time career as owner of Tobin's Transfer, Dave has pursued a busy second career as a community volunteer and the ring leader of the Pheasant Country Pheasants Forever chapter. The chapter raises funds for pheasant habitat, hunting and youth programs in the Mitchell area and is the largest Pheasants Forever membership chapter in all of the United States and Canada, with over 700 members. Hunt Safe Courses

Jen Johnston, Mike Blaalid and John Bennett have been taking turns attending the Mitchell Hunt Safe Courses to welcome the students and tell them about Pheasants Forever. Dave Allen reported that 32 youth memberships have been given away.
